The invention relates to a method and a device for homogenising the energy supply to products to be cooked. The products are cooked in a cooking chamber (4) of a cooking apparatus on at least one receptacle, such as a baking tray (1), a grill or the like. The cooking chamber atmosphere is conducted over the container, especially over the small face thereof, essentially only along a plurality of flow paths which extend essentially in parallel in relation to one another. The direction of convection is periodically reversed and/or the inventive device comprises at least one fan (2, 2') for alternately conducting the cooking chamber atmosphere into two blowing directions (A, B) which are opposite each other. The inventive device also comprises a plurality of guiding means (3, 3'), such as guiding plates, throttles or the like. The aim of the invention is to homogenise the pressure of the flows over the receptacle (1) and to conduct the flows along a plurality of flow paths (5) which extend essentially in parallel to one another over the receptacle (1), especially over the small face thereof.
