PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method by which an objective substance that is contained or may be contained in an environmental sample can be condensed, separated, caught, detected, extracted, or recovered by causing a high polymer material to recognize and entrap the substance. SOLUTION: In this method, the objective substance (A) which is contained or may be contained in the environmental sample is condensed, separated, caught, detected, extracted, or recovered by using the high polymer material obtained by removing a simulant (B) to the substance (A) from a reaction product obtained by making a reactive compound react under the presence of the stimulant (B). At least one of the chemical structure, size, or shape of the stimulant (B) is equal or similar to that of a part or fragment of the objective substance (A).
