PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer for a plate type recording medium capable of reducing a conveyance distance for performing a printing operation on the plate type recording medium and of reducing a time period necessary for performing all the operations including the printing operation, and to provide a method of performing the printing. SOLUTION: A turn table 4 is continuously rotated at a constant speed and has a plurality of trays 2 each for bearing a plate type recording medium D which are respectively provided on aliquots of a periphery of an identical circle. A printing operation device 10 consists of head units 6 and ultraviolet ray radiating sections 8 which are alternately provided correspondingly to the trays 2 on the outer periphery of the turn table 4 at equal intervals. A recording medium supply device 12 that positions and mounts a plate type recording medium D before printing on the tray 2n which is detected to be positioned, and a recording medium discharge device 14 that discharges the printed plate type recording medium D from the tray 2 to a portion in the vicinity of and at the rear side of the recording medium supply device 12 in the rotating direction of the turn table 4, are provided to a part of the periphery of the turn table 4.
