PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the degradation of a light source.SOLUTION: A display device according to the present invention has: an image display panel; a backlight for illuminating the image display panel, in which a plurality of light sources driven independently of each other are arrayed; a backlight control unit for calculating, on the basis of necessary luminance for each divided area based on an image signal and previously stored luminance distribution information on backlights, the provisional lighting amount of each of the plurality of light sources that corresponds to the necessary luminance, selecting the plurality of light sources sequentially in accordance with a prescribed order of calculation, calculating the predicted luminance of a selected light source on the basis of the provisional lighting amounts of the plurality of light sources or the lighting amounts calculated for preceding light sources in the order of calculation and the luminance distribution information, and calculating, when the predicted luminance does not satisfy the necessary luminance, on the basis of the provisional lighting amount of the selected light source and the luminance distribution information, a lighting amount that satisfies the necessary luminance with regard to the selected light source; and a calculation order change unit for changing the order of calculation with prescribed timing.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
