PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid drop discharge head capable of determining whether foreign matter such as bubbles exists in the interior of the head having a complicated structure including a plurality of channel portions arranged in a three-dimensionally superposed condition and where it is, and a liquid drop discharge device and an image forming device using the same. SOLUTION: A member (506) to selectively reflect or transmit light is arranged between a first channel portion (52) and a second channel portion (55) formed in the head 50, and observation light (detection light) is selectively reflected or transmitted by an optical detection means to selectively observe the internal conditions of the channel portion (55) located on this side than the member and the internal condition of a channel portion (52) located on the interior side (distal position) beyond the member. Consequently, detection information in the channel portions (52 and 55) can be obtained, and the presence of a foreign matter and its position can be determined. A dielectric multi-layer film mirror (517) or a cholesteric liquid crystal can be used for a member to selectively reflect or transmit light. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
