PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To diminish the dark part, to realize improvement of strength by integrated working of an electrode/support, reduction of electric power consumption amount and prolongation of life in a discharge lamp used as a backlight of a personal computer, a liquid crystal television, and other liquid crystal display devices. SOLUTION: This is the electrode for the electric discharge lamp in which by the improvement of reliability, reduction of electric conductivity is prevented and loss of electric power consumption and reduction of brightness are prevented by reducing places of joining parts because its end part is integrated with the support in an electrode part arranged in a glass tube, and in a cylindrical tube of which one side is opened.
