<p>Rapid adjustment vice for use on machine tools etc., has a base (1) a stationary jaw (4) and a movable jaw (5). The faces are machined to be mutually parallel and at right angles, and threaded holes (6) are used to bolt it in position. The movable jaw (5) is moved by a right and left hand thread screw (7), one end engaged in the jaw and the other in an end piece (8). A hexagonal screw in the end of the screw is used for adjustment. The movable jaw is prevented from moving on its slides (2) by a triangular section piece (11) engaging in notches, (12), in the base. The jaw is released by rotating the piece (10) so that a cut off edge (13) faces the notches. The jaw can then be moved rapidly to the required position.</p> |
