<p>PURPOSE:To prevent the formation of induced domains through simple processing by subjecting the one orientation film surface of a segment substrate and a common substrate to orientation treatment through rubbing and forming the other orientation film through vapor deposition of mutually intersecting two layers. CONSTITUTION:An orientation film 3 is formed on either one of substrates 1 formed with segments or a common electrode 2 of a twisted nematic liquid crystal display element and is subjected to orientation treatment by rubbing the surface of the orientation film 3 with a rubbing roller 5 which moves in the arrow 4 direction and revolves in a home position. Vapor deposition of the 1st layer is performed over the entire width on the other substrate 1 along the Y-axis direction 10 by a diagonal vapor deposition method or the like, thence the vapor deposition treatment of the 2nd layer is applied along the X-axis direction. This combination makes it possible to obtain the twisted nematic liquid crystal display element which is sharp in the applied voltage-transmittance curve and prevents the formation of induced domains as far as possible.</p> |
