METHOD OF BONDING CATION EXCHANGE MEMBRANE OF FLUORINATED POLYMER

A method of bonding a cation exchange membrane which comprises melt-bonding a part of the cation exchange membrane of a fluorinated copolymer in the form having ion-exchange groups of -cooy wherein Y represents hydrogen atom or a C1 - C20 alkyl group, the cation exchange membrane being one which is in the form having ion-exchange groups of wherein X represents an alkali metal, an alkaline earth metal or -NHR1R2R3 and R1 to R3 respectively represent hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group and m is a valence of X. The method makes melt-bond of the membrane possible without decomposition of the copolymer.
