PURPOSE:To provide a range finder which eliminates the necessity for a laser range finder by utilizing the technique of stereoscopic viewing of aerial photographs used for the preparation of maps. CONSTITUTION:A system which is composed of image orthicon elements 1, 1 which generate AC components only, a laser oscillator 7 which generates laser rays, optical elements 8, 9, 10 which send laser rays from the laser oscillator 7 in the direction of a target 6 and simultaneously guide part of laser rays in the direction of the image orthicon elements 1, 1 and optical systems 2, 2 which guide reflected rays from the target 6 to the image orthicon elements 1, 1. Images of the target to be obtained by image orthicon elememts 1, 1 are caused to move parallel to each other by an image process unit 3 until they overlap each other, and distance information on the target 6 can be obtained based on the amount of parallel movement of images. |
