PURPOSE:To reduce the output resistance of an image pickup tube, and enable a picture signal of a high S/N ratio to be obtained by providing a band-like metal body of low resistance outside an effective scnning area formed on a transparent conductive film so that the said metal body touches a signal taking- out electrode. CONSTITUTION:A metal band 8, which has a frame-like shape and is formed by subjecting a metal of low resistance such as Au to vapor deposition, is provided outside an effective scanning area (A) of a transparent conductive film 3a form- ed on a light transmitting face plate 4. One of the longer sides of the metal band 8 touches and is connected to a signal taking-out electrode 7. Here, the inner sides of the four corners of the metal belt 8 are made to be located within the area of the conductive film 3a. Owing to the above constitution, the resistance value between the electrode 7 and the conductive film 3a having a high resistance value corresponds to the practical value obtained by connecting the resistances of the picture elements of the film 3a parallel to the metal band 8. Consequently, since the resistance value of the metal band 8 is approximately zero, the series resistance entering into the picture signal can be greatly decreased, and the S/N ratio of the picture signal can be widely increased. |
