PURPOSE:To easily correct each character in plural clauses by providing a function for storing the reading of each clause in a buffer memory and a function for converting the character string stored in the buffer memory into a KANA (Japanese syllabary)-KANJI (Chinese character) mixed character string. CONSTITUTION:The reading of a character string to be corrected and the reading of a clause including a character specified by an operator or the clause following a stored clause are stored in the buffer memory. The character string stored in the buffer memory is converted into KANA-KANJI mixed character string and the grammatical processing of the inputted KANA character string is inhibited until the KANA-KANJI mixed character string corresponding to the inputted KANA character string and required by the operator is displayed to execute character retrieval based upon the retrieval of the longest coincident word. Consequently, a character string consisting of plural clauses can be easily corrected.
