The tennis racket has two arms (3) joining the handle (2) to the strung head (1), and a reinforcing component (6) between the arms (3) with holes for the strings as in the head. The cross-section of the component alters continuously towards its centre, its height at right angles to the striking surface decreasing, while its width in the plane of this surface increases. Pref. the reinforcing component comprises carbon fibres and epoxy resin. ADVANTAGE - Simplicity and low cost, while counteracting distortion on hitting the ball. (Dwg.1/1)
