摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating tool for exhibiting excellent defect resistance and abrasion resistance, even when cutting a difficult-to-cut material under a high speed cutting condition causing high heat generation.SOLUTION: A hard coating layer formed on a surface of a tool base body is composed of (a) a lower layer having an average layer thickness of 0.5-5.0 μm, and also satisfying a composition formula : (AlTi)N(0.25≤x≤0.55), and having a Young's modulus E of 400 GPa≤E≤550 GPa, (b) an (Al,Cr) N layer having one layer average layer thickness of 0.1-1.0 μm, and also satisfying a composition formula : (AlCr)N(0.25≤y≤0.50), and having the Young's modulus E of 150 GPa≤E≤300 GPa, (c) a CrN layer having one layer average layer thickness of 0.1-1.0 μm, and an alternate laminate layer of two periods or more of the (b) and (c), and has an upper layer having the total average layer thickness of 1.2 times or more the lower layer and of 0.6-6.0 μm.
