The present invention relates to a method and system of improved pointer recognition. A camera-based interactive system has two cameras with fields of view observing an interactive surface. A processor receives a plurality of video frames from the cameras and recognizes a pointer within the video frames. Motion blur of the pointer is compensated to determine the pointer type from the compensated frames using a model-based approach. |

a processing structure; an interactive surface; at least two cameras having fields of view observing the interactive surface and in communication with the processing structure; and a computer-readable medium comprising instructions to configure the processing structure to:
receive a plurality of video frames from the cameras;recognize a pointer within a portion of the video frames by dividing each of the portion of video frames by a background image to recognize the pointer;compensate for motion blur of an image of the pointer within the plurality of video frames to form compensated frames;process the compensated frames to generate an intensity profile; anddetermine a pointer type from the compensated frames and the intensity profile. |
