456,237. Indicating leakages in gas &c. distribution systems. ALLSTADT, E., 4, Roonstrasse, Frankfort-on-Main, Germany. Oct. 14, 1935, No. 28364. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, April 18, 1936.] [Class 99 (ii)] [See also Groups XXXVI and XIX] In order to determine losses in a distribution system for gas, water and the like, including a main meter at the supply station and consumer meters at each consumer station, printing or recording devices operating in response to an impulse represented by variations in the pressure of the commodity consumed are provided at each meter, and means are associated with the system for sending therethrough, by way of the said commodity, an impulse operating simultaneously on all the meters. In the case of gas distribution, reservoirs of gas at different pressures are provided, one at the normal supply pressure and the other at the increased pressure for giving the impulse. A printing device for a gas meter 22, with shaft 24 geared to numeral rollers 26 with raised numerals is shown in Fig. 3. A housing 37 containing a membrane 38 normally held in the position shown by a spring 39 surrounding a link 36 is connected to the inflow pipe 23 of the meter by a pipe 41. When the pressure wave is sent into the meter, the membrane 38 is moved to the right, and the link 36 moves the arm 34 of a bell-crank lever and releases a lever 28 pivoted at 29. The other end 27 of the lever carries a plate 30 which, on release of the lever, is moved by a spring 32 to press the paper strip 31 against the rollers 26.
