摘要 Provided is a liquid crystal display device. The liquid crystal display device includes a first substrate and a second substrate configured to face each other, a liquid crystal layer positioned between the first and second substrates, a first alignment film positioned between the liquid crystal layer and the first substrate, and a second alignment film positioned between the liquid crystal layer and the second substrate. Here, at least one of the first alignment film and the second alignment film includes a double layer of an alignment base film that is aligned so as to have a pretilt angle and an alignment control film that has polymerized mesogen.

A liquid crystal display device comprising: a first substrate and a second substrate configured to face each other; a liquid crystal layer positioned between the first and second substrates; a first alignment film positioned between the liquid crystal layer and the first substrate; and a second alignment film positioned between the liquid crystal layer and the second substrate, wherein at least one of the first alignment film and the second alignment film includes a double layer of an alignment base film that is aligned so as to have a pretilt angle and an alignment control film that has polymerized mesogens; wherein an anchoring energy of the alignment control film is at least about 22% larger than an anchoring energy of the alignment base film; wherein a polar angle of the polymerized mesogen within the alignment control film is larger than a polar angle of the pretilt angle of the alignment base film when the liquid crystal layer includes a liquid crystal having positive dielectric anisotropy, and wherein the polar angle of the polymerized mesogen within the alignment control film is smaller than the polar angle of the pretilt angle of the alignment base film when the liquid crystal layer includes a liquid crystal having negative dielectric anisotropy.
