The present invention relates to a hollow core secondary battery, and more particularly, to a hollow core secondary battery capable of quickly exhausting internal heat of a battery to the outside of the battery and capable of automatically shorting a battery when an internal pressure of the battery abnormally increases. The hollow core secondary battery according to the present invention includes an electrode assembly comprising a pair of electrode plates and a separator disposed between the pair of electrode plates, an outer container in which the electrode assembly is received, a hollow inner container inserted into a central portion of the electrode assembly, a first terminal assembly assembled at a top portion of the outer container, a top end portion of the inner container inserted into the first terminal assembly, and a second terminal assembly assembled at a bottom portion of the outer container and having a central portion into which a bottom end portion of the inner container is inserted.
