A moulding unit (21) comprises a chamber (30) supplied with pasta-filata (P) and having outlets (34) arranged in line and facing upwards. A mould (36, 38) has two rows of channels (40, 42) opening on a first surface (36a) of the mould (36, 38) facing downwards and arranged adjacent to the outlets (34). Driving means (44, 46) drive the mould (36, 38) with reciprocating motion between a first position, in which the channels (40) of a first row are aligned to the outlets (34) to be filled with pasta-filata, while the channels (42) of the other row are open to the outside for discharge, and a second position in which the channels (42) of the second row are aligned to the outlets (34) to be filled with pasta-filata while the channels (40) of the first row are open to the outside for discharge. A consolidation tub (77) is arranged below the moulding unit (21). A first chute (80) and a second chute (82), are arranged between the moulding unit (21) and the consolidation tub (77) for receiving pasta-filata in the shape of sticks (S) from the channels of the first row (40) and the channels of the second row (42) respectively, and for unloading the sticks (S) into the consolidation tub (77). Each chute has an inlet end (80a, 82a) substantially parallel to the plane defined by the axes of the channels (40, 42), and an outlet end (80b, 82b) slanting with respect to the horizontal plane by a delivery angle (a) in the range 0° to 45°. |
