The method involves processing a screw-type compressor rotor (1) through insertion of a profile (2) with a measurement opposite to an end contour, and grinding the profile in a roughing-process in a grinding machine in which a part of the profile is removed. The profile is finished in a smoothing-process in the machine in which the end contour of the profile is manufactured. The roughing-process and the smoothing-process are executed in a continuous bearing grinding process with a helical grinding tool (3), where a layer of abrasive material e.g. cubic boron nitride, is arranged on the tool. An independent claim is also included for a grinding machine for grinding a rotor. |
