PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly fix a toner image on various kinds of recording media between a fixing roller and a pressure member, separate the recording medium from the fixing roller, and prevent a surface of the fixing roller or a separation pawl from being worn.SOLUTION: A fixing apparatus 30 fixes a toner image on a recording medium S between a fixing roller 31 and a pressure member 32, and separates the recording medium from the fixing roller by a separation pawl 34. Adjustment means 40 performs adjustment between a first contact state where the fixing roller is brought into contact with the pressure member with strong contact pressure, and a second contact state where they are brought into contact with each other with weak contact pressure. Separation pawl control means 50, which interlocks with the adjustment means, performs control between a first state where the separation pawl is brought into contact with an outer peripheral surface of the fixing roller in the first contact state, a second state where the separation pawl is brought into contact with the outer peripheral surface of the fixing roller in the second contact state, and a third state where the separation pawl is separated from the outer peripheral surface of the fixing roller in the second contact state. |
