A continuous hinge 20 for connecting two objects (fig.1,28,30) where at least one of the objects is movable, e.g. a door and a frame, has two leafs 23,25, each leaf having a channel 34,36 running along its edge, a number of tubular barrels 26 are attached alternately to the leafs by flanges 44 a pivot pin 27 extends through them. Each leaf may have a pair of spaced walls connected by a web 32,33 and flanges 40,42 extending in opposite directions from the ends of the walls for attaching the leafs to the objects. The walls may interfere with each other to restrict the rotation (fig.12) to less than 105 degrees. The barrel flange may have a pair of walls defining a channel, and a screw or bolt may be inserted through the web of the leaf channels into the barrel channel to secure it. Preferably bearings 50,64 are located at the ends of each barrel, having an insert 64 with a slot, an end cap 50 with a radial projection 58 sliding into the slot to prevent rotation, and a tongue (fig.13C,75) extending to cover the channel of the leafs. |
