PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a holding seal material, a winding body and an emission control device in which, when the holding seal material is exposed under a high temperature within the emission control device, increase of organic components in exhaust gas can be suppressed, even the holding seal material with a high bulk density can be wound and fixed around an exhaust gas treatment body and when accommodating the holding seal material into a casing, the holding seal material can be prevented from being deviated.SOLUTION: The holding seal material is comprised of a planarly rectangular mat containing inorganic fibers and used to be wound around a side face of a columnar exhaust gas treatment body. The mat is configured to form two or more layers of the mat when wound around the side face of the exhaust gas treatment body. In a portion positioned in an outer layer of the layers of the mat, one or more insertion parts are formed to be inserted from the outer layer through a void formed in the mat of the outer layer into an inner layer than the outer layer. In a portion that becomes the inner layer than the outer layer, one or more accommodation parts are formed to insert the insertion parts thereto. |
