[Class 81 (ii)] In apparatus for administering anaesthetics, the primary gas, e.g. nitrous oxide, passes to a gas bag or the like from which it is inhaled by the patient, deflation of the bag, or of a second bag connected to the tube carrying the face mask, causing actuation of a control device which opens a pipe from the primary gas container to a jet depending into a venturi tube associated with an air intake so that a gas-air mixture is then inhaled by the patient. As shown the primary gas from the container 1 passes through a pipe 5 to a valve 6 which allows the gas to trickle into a gas bag 7 from which the gas is inhal ed by the patient through a pipe 9; a check valve 6a is disposed in the outlet from the bag to the pipe 9. A second bag 7a is also connected to the pipe 9 and when the gas from the bag 7 is exhausted, the bag 7a has also become deflated and actuates arms 10 to open the control device 3a disposed between a pipe 3 connected to the container 1 and a jet 12 located in an air intake 4 and depending into a venturi tube 13 in the bag 7a; primary gas and air, drawn through a spring-loaded non-return valve 14 in the air intake, then fills the bag 7a and is inhaled by the patient while the primary gas trickles into the bag 7 until the arm 8 shuts off the valve 6. |
