The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for estimating a determination torque change rate used for anti-punching determination in a sunroof system. To this end, according to the present invention, the method for estimating a determination torque change rate used for anti-punching determination in a sunroof system including a motor opening/closing a sunroof and a controller controlling the motor comprises the steps of: learning a reference torque change rate of the motor; deducing a model torque change rate of the motor by applying an angular speed input value, a torque input value of torque, and a torque change rate input value to a preset estimation algorithm; setting a difference between the model torque change rate and the reference torque change rate as the determination torque change rate; and setting the determination torque change rate to the reference torque change rate when the determination torque change rate is less than a reference value.
