<p>Labels in which an image bearing layer is sandwiched between two coats of lacquer and coated on one face with a solvent sensitive thermoplastic material and on the other face with a paper support tape secured by water sensitive adhesive. Pref. the support paper is secured by a double layer of adhesive with a relatively thin layer adjacent to the paper. Esp. for transfers for labelling plastics esp hollow mouldings. Pref. the backing is sprayed with water, then the other side is sprayed with solvent and applied to the component surface, the paper is removed and the label dried. Air jets may be used to press the still damp label into surface contours on the mouldings. The use of contrasting adhesive systems facilitates control of the relative tackiness of the anchorages for securing the label and debonding the backing.</p> |
