This method comprises the following steps: - acquiring a measurement (MeshV) of an outer surface of the observed animal, from frames (Ik) obtained using an imaging device (42); - optimising the parameters of a labelled envelope model (MEnvE), associating a labelled mesh (MeshE) and a control volume (VC) comprising cages (Cm) for deformation of the labelled mesh, the labelled mesh comprising control points (PCq) associated with characteristic points of a model of the skeleton (MSq) of the animals, the optimisation step consisting of adjusting the labelled mesh (MeshE) to the measurement, (MeshV) to generate an optimal labelled mesh (MeshEO); - performing a reconstruction consisting of computing a posture (Pil(t)) from control points (PCq) of the optimal labelled mesh (MeshEO) and the model of the skeleton (MSq); and - combining a plurality of postures to obtain an individual property (Gi) representative of the animal's behaviour. |
