PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a measuring instrument that can improve visibility of a display part in a dark place, exhibit good appearance, and suppress an increase in size of the measuring instrument.SOLUTION: A vernier caliper 1 comprises a display part 12C that displays information, a battery storage part 13 that stores a battery EB driving the display part 12C, and a battery lid 14 that closes the battery storage part 13. The battery lid 14 includes an LED 14A that is attached to be adjacent to the display part 12C and emits light to illuminate the display part 12C.
