Disclosed is a light emitting device having uniform luminous characteristics and securing excellent heat dissipation efficiency. The light emitting device includes: a light emitting structure; a first contact electrode and a second contact electrode disposed on the light emitting structure and making ohmic contact with first and second conductive type semiconductor layers, respectively; a first insulation part and a second insulation part for partially covering the first contact electrode and the second contact electrode; a first electrode and a second electrode disposed on the light emitting structure and electrically connected to the first and second contact electrodes, respectively; a third insulation part for covering the side surfaces of the first electrode and the second electrode; a connection layer disposed on the first electrode, the second electrode, and the third insulation part; and a first pad electrode and a second pad electrode disposed on the connection layer, wherein the first pad electrode and the second pad electrode are electrically connected to the first electrode and the second electrode through the connection layer, respectively. A horizontal area of the first pad electrode is smaller than a horizontal area of the first electrode, and a horizontal area of the second pad electrode is bigger than a horizontal area of the second electrode. |
