PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To satisfactorily reduce occurrence of defect in the beginning of an electric discharge cladding work or in resuming the work, and improve cladding uniformity.SOLUTION: When an operator presses a tip part of an electrode material 11 of an applicator 13 and allows the tip part to contact a cladding portion of a conductive workpiece W, electrification stop by a safety device 115 is cancelled, and a thyristor 106 is turned on on the basis of a control pulse signal from a thyristor controlling circuit 108. Thus, charging power of a capacitor 105 for output is applied to the electrode material 11 as pulse voltage. In that occasion, a soft start circuit 109 gradually increases an applied voltage from a constant current circuit 104 to the capacitor 105 for output in starting electric discharge cladding. Further, a voltage detection circuit 107 uniformizes a charging voltage of the capacitor 105 for output. Therefore, uniform spark discharge starts after the electrode material 11 reaches sufficiently high temperature, and cladding uniformity to the conductive workpiece W improves to reduce occurrence of defect.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 |
