PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal medium.SOLUTION: The present invention relates to a liquid crystal medium based on a mixture of dielectrically negative polar compounds. The mixture contains at least one compound of formula (I), where parameters have the meanings indicated in Claim 1. The present invention also discloses use of the liquid crystal medium in an electro-optical display, particularly an active matrix display based on a VA (vertical alignment), ECB (electrically controlled birefringence), PALC (plasma address liquid crystal), FFS (fringe field switching), or IPS (in-plane switching) effect, as well as such display units.SELECTED DRAWING: None |
