PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine the presence or absence of an abnormality of a variable valve timing mechanism without adding a sensor.SOLUTION: In a state that an engine and a motor MG1 are controlled so that the engine is operated at a target rotation number Ne*(rotation number Neset) during a stop, the opening/closing timing of an intake valve is advanced by a prescribed amount (S140). When a value which is obtained by subtracting pre-change torque Tm1 (1) before the advance from post-change torque Tm1 (2) as the torque of the motor MG1 after the advance is not smaller than a threshold Tref, it is determined that a variable valve timing mechanism normally functions (S180), and when a value which is obtained by subtracting the pre-change torque Tm1 (1) from the post-torque Tm1 (2) is smaller than the threshold Tref, it is determined that the abnormality occurs in the variable valve timing mechanism (S190). Even if an abnormality occurs in a cam position sensor, the presence or absence of the abnormality of the variable valve timing mechanism can be determined without adding a sensor.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 |
