PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recording device having a high success rate in suction operation and being capable of effectively using ink.SOLUTION: An ink jet recording device comprises: a nozzle array 36 in which a plurality of nozzles 32 for discharging the same ink are disposed side-by-side; a recording head for discharging a plurality of types of ink; and at least one cap member 41 covering a plurality of nozzle rows in an uncontrolled state. The cap member performs suction operation on the ink in the recording head in a state of covering the plurality of nozzle rows. At least one nozzle array covered by one cap member during a suction operation out of the plurality of nozzle rows is a first nozzle array 36a which discharges first ink. The first ink contains water, pigment, organic solvent, resin, a first surfactant, and a second surfactant. The first surfactant is surfactant having an HLB value on the basis of the Griffin method less than 4, and a ratio of a solid content total amount of the resin contained in the first ink to mass of the first surfactant is equal to 70 or less.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4 |
