PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positive electrode active material for a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery, which is superior in cycle characteristics, and which enables the achievement of a high output as well as a high capacity when it is used for a positive electrode.SOLUTION: A positive electrode active material for a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery comprises: a lithium metal complex oxide including primary particles expressed by the general formula, LiNiCoMnMO(where 0.40≤u<0.60; z-x≤u when z-x>0.4; u≤z when z<0.6; 0≤x≤0.5; 0≤y≤0.5; 0.5≤z<0.8; 0<x+y: x+y+z+t=1; z-x<0.6; 0.4≤α<0.6; M represents an additive element which is at least one element selected from Mg, Ca, Al, Ti, V, Cr, Zr, Nb, Mo and W) and secondary particles composed of agglomerations of the primary particles. Each primary particle of the lithium metal complex oxide has fine particles including W and Li and distributed and sprinkled on the surface of the primary particle.SELECTED DRAWING: None |
