The present invention relates to the technical field of display. Disclosed are a color filter on array (COA) substrate and manufacturing method thereof and display device, for solving the problem of a large parasitic capacitance generated between a common electrode and a gate line and/or between a common electrode and a data line in the present technical solutions, thus avoiding a signal delay, ensuring normal transmission of the signal, and improving the display quality of an image of a display device. The COA substrate (1) comprises: a gate line, a data line, a common electrode layer (9) and a black matrix (8), the black matrix (8) being disposed between the gate line and a common electrode layer (9) and/or between the data line and the common electrode layer (9), and the black matrix (8) being made of metal material.
