The present invention discloses an apparatus for managing power of a telematics terminal and a method for controlling the same. The apparatus for managing power of a telematics terminal according to the present invention comprises: a start state detection unit which detects a start state of a vehicle; a voltage detection unit which detects a voltage value of a battery of the vehicle; a power switch which controls power to be supplied to a communication modem; a storage unit which stores a waiting time and the voltage value of the battery; and a telematics control unit which switches to a standby mode according to the start state, controls the power switch after the waiting time stored in the storage unit, outputs a waiting time expiration message via the communication modem after the waiting time is over, and then resets the waiting time based on the voltage value of the battery in response to an extension request input via the communication modem. |
