PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a lubricant base oil which can provide steadily and inexpensively a lubricant base oil of VG 32 or VG 46 grade having a flash point of 250°C or higher, and can further suppress oxidative degradation of the lubricant base oil sufficiently.SOLUTION: Provided is a method for producing a lubricant base oil, including steps of: introducing a raw material into a distillation column, the raw material containing a mineral oil having a flash point of less than 250°C, a viscosity index of 110 or more, and kinetic viscosity of 40 mm/s or less; distilling off a light fraction from the raw material to leave a lubricant base oil having a flash point of 250°C or higher, a viscosity index of 120 or more, and kinetic viscosity of 50.6 mm/s or less to reside in the distillation column; and recovering the lubricant base oil from the distillation column. |
