A vehicle seat is provided. The position of a rear windowsill plate is raised to increase the capacity of a luggage compartment and hide locking mechanisms of seat backrests to ensure a beautiful look. Backseats (11) with seat backrests foldable forwards are set in front of a compartment (26) in the rear part of a vehicle body. Locking mechanisms (19) fixing the backrests to vertical positions are arranged at the front end of a rear windowsill plate (15) forming the upper wall of the compartment. When a height-adjustable headrest arranged on each backrest is at the topmost position, the locking mechanism is behind the headrest when being faced, and the lower end (14a) of the headrest is under the upper end (13a) of the backrest. Therefore, raising the position of the rear windowsill plate to enlarge the compartment can lift the locking mechanisms as well, and the locking mechanisms can be covered by the headrests to ensure a beautiful look. |
