摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic checkup method and an ultrasonic checkup apparatus that can evaluate the inclination angles of faults and enhance the accuracy of evaluating the range and/or the center position of faults.SOLUTION: By an ultrasonic checkup method, a three-dimensional image 41 showing the echo intensity of a fault in a three-dimensional coordinate system showing fault virtual positions yp and zp in the axial and thickness directions of a checkup object 1 and a virtual inclination angle α is generated and displayed; the maximum value of echo intensity is figured out relative to the distribution of one cluster of echo intensities on the three-dimensional image 41; and the virtual inclination angle α of the fault corresponding to it is figured out as a real inclination angle. Then the distribution of echo intensities corresponding to the real inclination angle of the fault is extracted; a two-dimensional image represented in a two-dimensional coordinate system consisting of virtual positions of faults is generated and displayed; and the actual range and/or the center position of faults are figured out on the basis of the range of the virtual positions of faults matching the distribution of one cluster of echo intensities on the two-dimensional image.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 12
