PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that can perform normal color shift correction control even when an unexpected incorrect detection is made.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus performs color shift correction control of forming each of detection patterns in a plurality of colors, detecting each of the formed detection patterns in the plurality of colors, and correcting color shift on the basis of each of detection values of the detected detection patterns in the plurality of colors. In the color shift correction control, when the detection values of the detection patterns in the plurality of colors fall out of a predetermined color shift range, color shift is corrected by temporarily using the limit value of the color shift range, and subsequent color shift correction control is performed on the basis of detection values of the detection patterns in the plurality of colors after the correction.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5 |
