Provided is a preparation method of high purity aluminum oxide. The preparation method of high purity aluminum oxide comprises: a step of performing a synthesis reaction of aluminum and alcohol in presence of a catalyst; a first purification step to separate impurities by chelation treatment during or after the synthesis reaction; and a second purification step to secondarily purify the reaction mixture by heating and distilling the mixture which is primarily purified from the first purification step.
