摘要 The present invention relates to a tape material for manufacturing an ignition plug electrode. The tape material is a member for forming an electrode chip in which a base metal layer and a noble metal layer are cladded on a joining region that is set on an ignition plug electrode base material. The tape material has the form of a long tape obtained by cladding a base metal layer that contacts the joining region with a noble metal layer that contacts the base metal layer, the width of the base metal layer being substantially equal to the length, the width, or the diameter of the joining region. According to the present invention, the join between a noble metal chip and a substrate can be maintained with certainty and the lifetime of an ignition plug can be extended. Due to this configuration, a noble metal can be efficiently used and therefore resources can be saved.
