An animal trap 102 comprising a trap section 132 having at least one moveable wall section 136. The wall is moveable with respect to one or more other walls of the trap section to alter the size of the trap section. An animal enters the trap section via entrance 118 and animal detection means 138 are provided. The detection means signal the presence of the animal to control means which upon receipt of said signal cause movement of the moveable wall section, altering the size of the trap section and consequently crushing the animal.
