A chair back comprises an upper back rest section 2 and a lower section 4 adapted to support the upper back rest section 2 relative to a chair seat 14. The lower section 4 comprises a pair of resiliently flexible arcuate bands. The upper back rest section 2 may be formed by one resiliently flexible band comprising a central portion 8 and two side arms 13. Preferably, the upper back rest section 2 and the lower section 4 are formed from a single resiliently flexible band, and elbow rests 10 are formed where the back rest section 2 connects to the lower section 4. A back panel 24 may be formed on the chair back, having connection points 26, 28 to the upper back rest section 2 and to the arcuate bands of the lower section 4. The back panel 24 may be formed from a single piece of material or from multiple strands which form a net-like support. |
