873,757. Moulding capsules. VITAMINS Ltd. March 16, 1959 [March 14, 1958], No. 8307/58. Class 87(2). Filled capsules are moulded by forming drops of filling material enclosed by capsule material, and to obtain capsules of a size different from that produced by allowing the drops to form freely under gravity, centrifugal force is applied to the materials by mounting the nozzles 29, 30 on a rotating shaft 20. Alternatively the nozzles may be mounted tangentally of the axis of rotation. In addition, to assist in premature separation of the drops, air or kerosine may be fed downwardly through an outer nozzle 12 over the drops formed in nozzles 10, 11. The capsules may be sprayed with kerosene, vegetable oils or starch through nozzles 32, the sprayed material being collected at 35 and recirculated by a pump 38. The capsules may be dusted with graphite, talc or aluminium particles. The capsule matrial may be gelatine, zeim, wheat gluten, polyvinyl acetate or sodium alginate and may contain a light and heat reflecting material, e.g. aluminium powder.
