A method for providing media content-related information comprises the following operations: decoding media content when receiving a reproduction input with respect to the media content; obtaining sample data from audio data generated by the decoding; retrieving sound source data having a data pattern substantially similar with the sample data in a database; and obtaining related information of the retrieved sound source data. Herein, the present invention is not limited to the above-mentioned embodiment, but other embodiments are possible.
