<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device capable of easily using auxiliary colors as options in addition to four fundamental colors without increasing cost and power consumption. <P>SOLUTION: A scanning optical system is constituted of a first part housed in a first housing where surfaces of a plurality of image carriers corresponding to the four fundamental colors are scanned by laser beams, and a second part housed in a second housing where the surface of an image carrier corresponding to at least one auxiliary color is scanned by a laser beam. An light deflector is provided in only the first part housed in the first housing, and the second housing is detachable from the image forming device. When the second housing is mounted, the laser beam scanning the surface of the image carrier corresponding to the at least one auxiliary color is deflected by the light deflector, and then is emitted from a first window part provided in the first housing and entered from a second window part provided in the second housing. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
