PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processing device and method for editing characters of a document in which the characters are additionally handwritten into desired character data, and to provide a recording medium.SOLUTION: Read image data generated by optically reading printing characters preliminarily printed on a document and written characters additionally written after printing is acquired. An image of the printing characters and an image of the written characters of the acquired read image data are converted into character data. The character data is edited according to character data edition information of the converted character data. In character data edition, the converted character data is discriminated between printing character data obtained by converting the image of the printing characters into the character data and written character data obtained by converting the image of the written characters into the character data, and the discriminated written character data is edited according to received written character data edition information.
