A composite product for soldering, brazing or the like comprises adhered portions of two different malleable metals selected from gold: aluminium and gold:tin, the weight ratio of the portions corresponding to that of a brittle alloy of the metals and the melting point of the alloy being below that of at least one of the metals. A strip of gold is provided on its opposite faces with substantially pure tin strips solid phase bonded thereto, the weight ratio of gold:tin being 80:20, that of the eutectic alloy. The gold:tin ratio may be 82:18 or 78:22. A strip of gold may be roll bonded between two aluminium strips, the product having a weight ratio gold:aluminium of 92:8. Specifications 745,511 and 745,426 are referred to. |
