A microphone is adapted on at least one side to be axially mechanically connected with a co-operating side of another microphone, such one side being provided with an electrical coupling which is set back relative to the surface of such side and does not project beyond such surface. In one arrangement, two microphones 1, 2 have conically interfitting parts 3, 4 and electrical coupling parts 7b, 7a which do not project beyond the parts 3, 4. The lower end of the microphone 2 fits into a base member 5 which may be used as a handle or is provided with a device (not shown) for fitting to a stand. The microphones 1, 2 may be connected singly or as a group by cable 6. The base member 5 may incorporate volume and/or tone controls, and/or devices for controlling, regulating and/or monitoring amplifiers or sound receiving appliances to be operated with the microphone arrangement. Further microphones having, on opposite sides, coupling parts similar to parts 3, 4 may be interposed between the microphones 1 and 2 to form a chain. The microphones are turnable relative to one another and locating devices may be provided. Between the microphones 1 and 2 may be an extension member which provides electrical and mechanical connection. This may be used in stereophonic work. The extension member may be angled and may have an adjustable joint. A chain of several microphones may be provided at each end. An intermediate member between two microphones may connect in sound reproduction apparatus or an electrically operated gong. |
